How Vitamin E Can Change Your Skin

Monday 19 Dec 2016

There are a handful of things that can change your life. Vitamin E oil will be one of them.

So, where do we start?

UV exposure has long-term damaging effects to our skin and this is where vitamin E helps, acting as a powerful antioxidant, it neutralises the free radicals which cause damage to cellular membranes and DNA. In layman’s terms, it can reduce the risk of skin cancer, lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Vitamin E prevents water loss from the skin, and helps it to retain its natural moisture. Who doesn’t want healthy, glowing skin all year round?!

Studies have also shown a significant increase in the hydration of the skin when vitamin E was used over a 2 to 4 week period.

Sunburn Treatment

We can’t promise the sun will be nice this summer. What we can promise is that vitamin E is here to reduce the sun’s harmful effects.

When you spend time in the sun, the damage continues in your skin long after. Applying vitamin E to your skin after being exposed reduces the formation of sunburn cells and the inflammation associated with UV damage. Even if you can’t get your hands on some until 8 hours after!

The one bad boy you can’t seem to avoid. Dermatitis is a skin condition experienced by many and liked by none, caused by inflammation of the skin from an allergen or irritant.

The anti-inflammatory properties can successfully treat and alleviate symptoms for those struggling with this condition by applying vitamin E directly to the skin. Goodbye itchiness!

Age Spots & Skin Lightening

We all know what melanin is. It’s what gives us our beautiful natural skin colour Although, sometimes an excessive production of melanin results in skin discolouration disorders.

How vitamin E can help is through depigmentation to lighten dark patches where melanin has accumulated. There are studies to back it up. It’s also shown when you combine vitamin E with vitamin C it significantly increases these effects. Remember, E + C = Win!

Cold Sores

It’s never something you want anyone to see, let alone your parents at Christmas lunch. No one.

Topical applications of vitamin E can be used to help relieve the pain as well as heal the affected area. In a scientific study, a cotton ball soaked in vitamin E oil was applied to cold sores for a 15 minute period. The result? Pain relief occurred within a period of 15 minutes to 8 hours AND the appearance of the blisters was significantly reduced.
