Meet our founder

Anna Ross is a Melbourne-based design enthusiast and bosslady. In 2014, Anna founded Kester Black as a project to redefine the industry standard for ethically produced cosmetics. Anna’s dream was to create Australian made, professional quality, environmentally produced and cruelty free products that are inspired by beautiful design. And she’s done exactly that.

Anna Ross is a New Zealand-born creative and entrepreneur, and the founder of Kester Black – Australia’s most innovative ethical beauty brand. An immediate commercial success, Kester Black is stocked by more than 500 Australian retail stockists, and sold through six international distributors across five continents.

A rule breaker by nature, Anna is on a mission to initiate global change in the beauty industry by setting new standards for cosmetics with a positive social and environmental impact.

Anna’s products are sustainably produced, vegan, cruelty-free, carbon neutral, and B Corp certified. These accreditations have attracted a cult-like following from customers across the world who love beautiful products with an ethical edge.

Following a formal education in design, Anna’s values-led approach has been integral to her becoming a commercial powerhouse. The former Telstra Young Business Woman of the Year, Anna's business savvy has helped to foster unique collaboration opportunities with global heavyweights such as Audi, Pantone and Virgin Australia.

She is an engaging public speaker, and has represented Australia at the 2017 G20YEA (Young Entrepreneurs Alliance).

Fashion designer, jeweller and now cosmetics queen, Anna’s proving that ethically, socially and environmentally-minded businesses can also be ground-breaking and successful.
