The only nail care regimen you need

We’ve all seen what long-term effects primping and painting our nails can do over time.

Brittleness.

Peeling.

Splitting.

Discolouration.

No, thank you.

We’ve compiled our top tips on how to care for your nails, so they look runway ready each and every time.

First off, stop biting your nails (guilty!). This will weaken and crack your fresh manicure and makes all that time and effort a waste of time. Lay off, nails don’t taste that great anyway.

Next stop is moisturising. It’s important to moisturise your nails with a quality cuticle oil, like our Almond Cuticle Oil, at least twice a week. We find it easiest to apply before bed for it to really take effect.

If you find your nails are still cracking along the edges, it may be time to reconsider the length. Depending on what you do day-to-day, longer nails may not be suitable if you’re constantly washing dishes, lifting heavy items, or other activities that place pressure to your nails. It’s best to consistently trim and shape your nails weekly to keep them looking flawless.

Additionally, if your nails do begin to chip be sure to remove the polish as this could cause brittle nails if you keep your nail polish on for an extended amount of time. Each application should have a quality top and base coat, like our two-in-one Topcoat.

One aspect most people may overlook is diet. Nails can split and become brittle and thin over time if you’re not keeping hydrated by drinking enough H2O or maintaining a calcium-rich diet full of dark green vegetables which fortify your bones as well as your nails. It’s a win-win.

One area we certainly always tell our customers to steer away from wherever possible is acrylic nails. They can destroy healthy nails in a flash and it’s difficult to get them back. Opt for either a gel or shellac manicure if you must but avoid acrylics at all costs. You don’t want to regret it in 20 years time.

One way to not forget about nail care is to keep a soft file, cuticle oil, top/basecoat, and hand cream either in your office drawer, bathroom cabinet, or makeup bag if traveling. An investment in the right tools will go a long, long way. Au revoir, monster claws.
